Pirate websites have been the bane of legitimate websites for a long time. And for most of that time, Google and other search engines have given some of those thieving sites a higher ranking than the good sites.
Google is now turning its attention to changing this injustice with its recent Pirate update which from the looks of things, has already started to roll out.
What this means for you as a consumer is the sites where you used to go to steal movies and music and other copyrighted content are going to be harder to find. What it means to the producers and artists in the world is they will finally stop being robbed of their “product”.
At this moment, Google has removed three of the top pirate websites which as an aggregate had collected more than 7 million takedown requests. It is quite certain that more website pirates will fall.
There is nothing but good news behind this move on Google’s part. While we all appreciate a good deal and love getting things for free, piracy is simply wrong. Artists deserve to be paid for their talents and work just like any other profession.
